Additional pampering, attention and relaxation: what the typical hotel spa strives to provide every guest. The spa, what once was typically seen as one of the desires of an older generation, is now becoming something desired by all. With greater attention to mental health and wellness, after the pandemic has sparked what has been called a mental health crisis, hospitality spas are reaping the benefits. More people want to relax and destress after the pandemic has caused so much isolation and sadness.
But what are people looking for in hotel spas? The pandemic has expanded our clientele, but it has also expanded their interests in health and wellness spas and what they offer.
- Cleanliness- our clientele wants to see perfectly clean and sanitized areas more than ever before. While spas were always a place of cleanliness, the stakes are higher now. Guests want to see that their area is being sanitized and germ free with hospital-like cleanliness.
- Fitness- the pandemic has people looking to working out as a way to help with their mind, body and soul. Hotels must make sure we are updating our fitness centers to keep up with the growing need of gyms and fitness facilities. Offering complimentary classes like group yoga or cycling would be a great amenity for your guests.
- Aesthetics- while growing attention to appearance was not something impacted by the pandemic, but rather social media, med spas are trending and hotels must keep up. Offering different types of facials for anti-aging benefits will be something clientele in all generations can’t resist.
- Technology- something younger generations love, but it is also something that can help with sanitization and health as well. By providing virtual check-ins and other ways to incorporate technology in your spa and fitness center, hotels can elevate the look and feel of the spa.
- Incorporating nature- while this may not be something loved by all- incorporating the surrounding environment, especially if your hotel is in a tropical location, provides an even greater sense of luxury for those wanting to experience relaxation and tranquility.
- Stress management and mental wellness- providing meditation or stress management opportunities will serve well to those wanting to fully heal their mind, body and soul.
