Long-Lasting Product and Design

Often, we emphasize what is fresh and what is new. It keeps things exciting and with our fast-paced, inter-connected world, recent design trends pop up daily. But, it’s essential not to get too caught up in our ever-changing trends. Always trying to keep up with what’s new is incredibly expensive and quite frankly impossible.

Trends change so quickly, especially in the hospitality industry. So when seeing something new, before capitalizing on it too fast, try to determine how long-lived the trend will be. Is it merely a short-lived fad that will change in the next few months or couple of years, or is it something that could be long-lasting?

The same goes for the products and furniture we are putting into our hotels. We must make sure we are not underestimating the power of an older product. Consider how powerful it is, that a product or design that has proven sustainability and longevity year after year, even after things change so quickly.

Think about buying a home on a beach. It is ever so tempting to buy the newest and most beautiful house and dismiss the home that has stood on the beach for 20 or so years. Ask yourself this: How could something last on the beach for so long? It has withstood flooding, hurricanes, and more. The older may not have the trendiest design, but the foundation is strong.

Longevity not only speaks to the quality of your products but how you work with a company that produces timeless, innovative, and durable designs. Hospitality trends come and go. Ensure that your design and business decisions are based on long-haul projections.
