Marketing Your Hotel: It’s All About Content

While creating video ads for marketing content is not necessarily new, video marketing has changed significantly in the past two years. Now, video ads are on television and every social media platform from Facebook and Instagram to Tiktok and YouTube!

It used to be that social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook revolved around still images. In an effort to keep up with the boom of Tiktok, these social media platforms have implemented their own video content platform and in-app features like Instagram Reels and Facebook Watch. Both social platforms encourage more interaction with videos and reels than with photographs. If you are not creating video content to advertise on social media, you may fall behind. The platforms likely won’t put your content in front of your target audience.

But don’t fret yet! To catch up is simple, start utilizing video content in your marketing plan. Here’s how:

  1.  It’s essential to recognize the difference between videos you want to post on each social media platform. For instance, you can post longer, in-depth videos of your property or the things you offer during the guest’s stay on YouTube and even Tiktok as they recently announced a 10-minute video feature. Instagram and Facebook both encourage shorter videos that span anywhere from 10-90 seconds.
  2. The next step is coming up with content for your hotel. Again, this should also vary from platform to platform, but there can still be crossover on themes. . Making your social media videos engaging is different from creating a typical television advertisement. With social media, users love to see more authentic day-to-day activities. The videos can be a little less “glamorized” than what you would put on television- for instance, it is perfectly fine if you are shooting your social media video content from your Smartphone. The editing doesn’t have to be perfect. In fact, studies show that audiences prefer something a bit less polished on social platforms.
  3. Utilize influencers and social media managers when you can. Investing in these resources can provide unique knowledge of social media and a follower reach that can be incredibly beneficial when building video content. For instance, with a social media platform like TikTok, trends cycle as quickly as every single week. Having a resource that is up to date on what is new on these platforms can help you create content and trending content. TikTok users love when brands make videos with trending sounds. Check out brands like Ryanair and DuoLingo on TikTok. They both have over a million followers on TikTok, with their presence on the platform growing every single day because they both create funny and authentic content.
