The phrase “don’t judge a book by its cover” doesn’t bode well in the hospitality industry.
Our customers make a decision on how enjoyable their stay is going to be the second they walk through our front doors. In fact, they draw conclusions based on online photos before they even step foot in the establishment.
What do the photos show? How clean is the lobby? How welcoming does it feel? How is the service? Your guests are mapping out their stay before they’ve spent a half an hour in your hotel.
The first impression we give is critical. It determines the entire vibe of a guest’s stay. If they are served well immediately, they will feel welcomed and appreciated and that feeling will carry them through their stay. But, if they are not treated properly, that bitter taste will stay in their mouths until they check-out.
So, how do we perfect the first impression?
The hotel lobby is your very first interaction with your guests. It is the initial greeting and the warm handshake between the space you have curated and your customer. When designing your hotel, be mindful of this. Curate a space that matches the location of the hotel, that provides comfort to the customer, and produces a welcoming, modern, and clean environment.
As we are navigating this new normal and being mindful of health and safety, it is important to remember that the hotel lobby is meant to feel comfortable and inviting, regardless of regulation.
Make sure we are designing a space meant to welcome the customer. Make sure it is a comfortable space for waiting, lounging, and socializing.
Make sure your first impression counts.
