Hospitality Trends: Video Marketing is Key

Photos aren’t out yet, but video is most definitely IN. Social media and utilizing video content as a marketing strategy isn’t just encouraged these days, but necessary. Creating video content for consumers is critical. Even babies become glued to televisions with novel sights, sounds, and movements. And when advertising your business, it is crucial to capture customer attention with more than just beautiful still images. Through video content, it is proven we can do this. But what video content can we create to be successful on social media? These are just a few ideas to get you started!

  1. Virtual Tours: This can be implemented on every social media platform- YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. To optimize for each platform, be sure you are changing the lengths of each video to comply with best practices. Showcasing your fantastic hotel and amenities is a great way not only to increase views on videos but to encourage people to visit your hotel. You can make these videos into shorter segments showcasing each amenity you have at a time. Cutting video=MORE CONTENT!
  2. Meet The Staff: Guests love to see the faces and hear their stories of all the work behind the scenes. @DisneyParks does a great job of this one on TikTok. These are great, feel-good video clips of staff members introducing themselves, talking about when they started their job and then discussing what they love about their job. Introducing your staff helps create an intimate and personal feel between your guests and the hotel. It makes your company that much more hospitable and accessible.
  3. BTS (Behind The Scenes): Showcase how you set things up for a big event or how the restaurant makes some of its signature dishes. Giving guests and viewers a behind-the-scenes look at things going on in your business makes them feel as if they are a part of the magic in your hotel.
  4. Travel Tips: The first step in getting someone to stay at your hotel is  to entice them to come to your city. Creating tips for things to do in your location will make your business look like an expert on the city you are in, creating trust between your establishment and your potential guests.
  5. Testimonials: Do you have a frequent customer who loves to stay at your hotel? Ask them why! The relationship you have formed with loyal customers can be advertised. It’s one thing when you tell customers that you’re great, but it’s another when someone else says that you’re great.
  6. Influencer Relations: Lastly, utilize influencers and experts on video creation and social media. Many people do this for a living and can create content for you as well as reach your target audience. This does come with a cost, but an investment in more targeted and engaging marketing is a no-brainer.
